Shadow Factory was approached by TGEC and the Hong Kong Observation Wheel (HKOW) to bug fix, test, and launch their Augmented Reality app. By incorporating telemetry data from the wheel into the Augmented Reality features of the mobile app, the team were able to create an industry first Augmented Reality mobile experience, that embodies the historical significance of an iconic structure. Travel in time and see the captivating faces of Hong Kong in different eras and embark on a fascinating time-travelling journey as the Wheel spins. The Hong Kong Observation Wheel AR App presented by AIA is an Augmented Reality experience which allows you to appreciate Hong Kong in its virtual form in 3 distinctive eras: 1890s-1920s, 1960s-1980s and Present Day, whilst riding the Hong Kong Observation Wheel.
